Approx. 6 weeks prior to surgery

Multi-Band—Most bariatric
patients are vitamin deficient prior to
surgery so a good bariatric multiple
vitamin is recommended for a minimum of
6 weeks prior to surgery.

Anti-OX—Either chewable
or capsule would be appropriate prior to
surgery.
0-3 months following surgery

Multi-Band—A good bariatric multiple vitamin is essential
for patients with a restrictive
procedure. If chewable vitamins cannot be
tolerated, Building Blocks liquid
multiple may be used in the early post
op period.

Calcium—Due to the
reduced amounts of solid foods that a
patient is able to tolerate, calcium is
required for patients with a restrictive
procedures. Building Blocks chewable
calcium is recommended for the early
post-operative period.

Iron—Available in 15mg or
30mg tablet or 30mg chewable. While all
of these options are appropriate, the
chewable option may be the easiest to
tolerate during this time-frame.

Anti-OX—Optional but
recommended for the first year. The
chewable form is recommended during this
time-frame.
3-6 Months following surgery

Multi-Band—A good bariatric multiple vitamin is essential
for patients with a restrictive
procedure.

Calcium—Due to the
reduced amounts of solid foods that a
patient is able to tolerate, calcium is
required for patients with a restrictive
procedures. Building Blocks chewable
calcium is recommended for the early
post-operative period.

recommended for the first year. The
chewable form is recommended during this
time-frame.
6-12 Months following surgery

patients with a restrictive procedure.

recommended after six months but any of

appropriate.

recommended after six months but
chewable is still appropriate.
1 Yr + following surgery
